Multi-stakeholder organization ‘Fair Toys Organisation’: Fair Performance Check as a role model for the industry

Today, my colleague Frank Ebinger and I had the opportunity in the headquarters of the FTO in Nuremberg to sign the documentation for further development of the Fair Toys Seal, taking into account the requirements of EmpCo, after an intensive review together with a board representative and the secretariat of the Fair Toys Organisation. As scientific companions of the Fair Performance  Checks, we have been observing the development of the system for several years. For us, the central question is how social responsibility, transparency and continuous improvement in the toy industry can be made traceable and credibly measurable.

During today’s exchange, we not only reflected on the existing development and governance structures, but also discussed the next steps. These include further strengthening of transparency processes, the formal inclusion of relevant stakeholders, and the continuous scientific support and reflection of the Fair Performance Checks. From a scientific perspective, it is unique in the industry that further development takes place in a multi‑stakeholder process that brings together perspectives from business, civil society and science. In particular, such structures are an important building block for acceptance and credibility in sustainability and responsibility communication. That is truly state‑of‑the‑art!
